Leeds Festival
Last year me and my dad went to Leeds Festival to mainly see Dave, who we are both obssessed with. We drove down there early morning not quite knowing what to expect. Contrary to popular beliefs we made it to the festival, all parked up and very excited. This was till my dads ticket wasnt working because of the rubbish service. About an hour later and many miles of pacing back and forth my dad finally made it through. After this slight step back we got right back ontrack with a drink which we had to down before getting into the actual music area (rookie error). We then explored many dance tents and discovered different music styles. My personal favourite was the Dj tent beacuse they played old school uk rap. Dads favourite was probably this random band we saw which were actually very fun to watch perform. Little did we know, there was much more to come as we went to see Glass Animals. We only knew one song ‘Heatwaves’ but it was a good time, especially when they ended with that. After some more food and a lot more walking, it was time for Megan the Stallion. I wasnt sure how dad was going to react to her music as lets be real its not for him at all. Despite this we both sang along and as my phone died we knew the main event was soon to come. It was time to witness Santan Dave. With a phone on 10% and packed in like sardines we both enjoyed the performance of a lifetime. He performed all of my favourite songs and everyone around was in awe of the perdormance. We finally made it home safe and sound still in shock of what we’d witnessed.
Kendrick Lamar
In October me, Rosabella and my dad went to the Utilita Arena in Newcastle to watch Kendrick Lamar. He had always been a favourite of mine and Rosa but I fell in love with his newest album ‘Mr Morale and the Big Steppers’. This was a highly anticipated concert to see. Kendrick Lamar performed all his songs from the album and many of his older and most popular songs and even brining out Baby Keem to perform ‘Family Ties’ which is an incredible song in my opinion. This concert was a bucket list item as we have listened to Kendrick Lamar since 2017 and it definietly lived up to my expecitations.
Harry Styles
In May I had a week of incredible concerts with a last minute Beyonce performance and only a few days later going to see Harry Styles in Edinburugh. I went with my best friend Keira who is obsessed with Harry Styles and always has been. Me on the other hand loved One Direction and admired Harry Styles songs but I was never overly excited about this concert. However the week leading up to the show i revised the whole set list and made sure I knew all the songs with Keira. We firstly had to get a train up to Edinburgh which to no surprise was packed of feather boas, cowgirl hats and Harry Style fan girls. We did have to politly ask people to move out our seat which isnt the best start to a journey but we cracked the 14% cocktails (they were rank) and got on our way. Finally we had made it to the wonderly hot city of Edinburgh. It was scorching around 25 degrees but with sunglasses on head we strolled toward the stadium which was around 50 minutes away. I refused to waste the day and insisted we walked, talked and shopped on our way. We stopped at Taco Bell for some churros and chips which was our fuel for the concert. We then made it to Bt Murrayfield with crowds of people and navigated out way to our seats. We’d spotted the merch stand on our way in and left our seats to explore the area. We ended up finding the shortest merch queue which may have been a devil in disguise as it took Keira at least 10 more minutes to decide which top she wanted. She chose the one I did prefer so I ended up buying the one I had prefered. All excited the show had started. It was simply incredible as the songs kept coming and he even played a few One Direction songs which I have never sang louder for. We both enjoyed the amazing performance and both agreed it was 10 out of 10. Keira even agreed that it was better than Beyonce which I’m sure some people would argue against. We then had to make our way to Glasgow to stay with my sister which is an hour journey. Somehow we made it onto an earlier train and Keira even made some friends on the way. With just our little bags carrying our lives we made to Glasgow.
The Weeknd
The next month I went to the Etihad Stadium to see the Weeknd perform with my dad and Rosabella. The day started as me and my dad drove down to Manchester where Rosa already was. After a excited 3 hour drive and some confusing turns to find a place to park, we caught a park into the centre of Manchester. We met up with Rosa and of course went to a Bar Burrito which was filling and lovely. We then all wandered around Manchester and a bit of shopping. We decided then to catch a tram to the stadium. We thought it would be just as easy to do than to say. However we couldn’t find the station as some had been closed and we couldn’t find the platform we needed to be on. Even with dads city mapper app he loves so dearly we all got a bit confused and the heat didn’t help as it was around 27 degrees. But with an ice cream in hand we made it to the stadium and went straight to the merch line. Of course me and Rosa ended up getting the same top as eachother. We then decided to find our seats but unluckily we were at the opposite side of the stadium so we walked over and realised how big the stadium was and how many people there was. After trying to find the right queue and standing in that for around an hour we’d made it in. I was amazed at our view and couldn’t believe after waiting for years to see him it was actually happening. This is because we got tickets in 2019 but due to COVID and The Weeknd cancelling his tour so it was highly anticipated for everyone. After a funky Dj set which my dad loved the show began. It included a massive skyline back ground set, a large moon hanging above the stage and a massive silver woman in the middle. Even though this was an expencive show to see it was worth it as his performance was beyond amazing. We all had the best time and surprisingly my dad knew more songs than he thought he would. To top this experience off The Weeknd ended with ‘Moth to a Flame’ which light up the whole stadium and was a perfect way to end the once in a lifetime experience.
